On Tuesday, 24th January, at occasion of the 6th year of the Engineering Award, owners of the best engineering works got together in Faculty of Civil Engineering at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. Expert committee had to choose the best work from 14 registered engineering works. Committee granted 4 awards in all, except for winner were granted 3 more engineering works without giving the order. The winner of 2015/ 2016 became Ing. Marek Bednar who studied at Faculty of Civil Engineering in Zilina with focus on the roof of the sport hall in Samorin. Honorable mentions were given to Ing. Branislav Sulír from University of Technology in Kosice (Engineering work – Renewal of historical building), Ing. Erik Longauer from Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (Engineering work – Digital optomagnetic sensors and their use within digital protections) and Ing. Lubos Kelcik also from STU Bratislava (Engineering work – Football stadium in Banska Bystrica).
In intercessions, at first the head of Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers and main founder of the award, prof. Ing. Vladimir Benko, PhD., subsequently prof. Ing. Alojz Kopacik, PhD. (representative ABF Slovakia), vice-rector Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava Ing. Stefan Stanko, PhD. and head of expert committee Ing. Ján Tomko said their considerations about next years of technology. They also talked about ways of improvement to pass the knowledge and next upcoming projects.
